Laredo Heat Soccer Club Announces Two International Friendly Matches
Wednesday, April 5, 2006, (Laredo, TX):
The Laredo Heat Soccer Club has announced that they have added two International Friendly Matches to their 2006 Soccer Schedule.
The Heat will host the Special Reserve Teams for both the Tigres de Monterrey and Chivas de Guadalajara at the Student Activity Complex located at Loop 20 and Highway 359. The Tigres match will be played on Thursday, April 20, 2006 and the Chivas will visit Laredo on Wednesday, May 24, 2006. All Heat soccer games are scheduled to start at 8:00 PM.
The Tigres de Monterrey Reserve Team will be visiting the Gateway City for the third time in three years to play the Heat. Tigres Director of Player Development, Ricardo Lopez Estrada, said, “When Vaswani Soccer Ventures invited us this year to come to Laredo, it was an easy decision to make since each year that we have come to play the Heat, my players have been treated well by both the soccer fans in Laredo and the Heat administration, plus both our previous encounters versus the Heat have gone to penalty shots to decide the winner.” Lopes Estrada added, “I am sure that this year game will be equally exciting and I am looking forward to seeing a team under the direction of one of my former players, Israel Collazo, in action.”
Heat Head Coach Israel Collazo trained and played under Ricardo Lopez Estrada when both individuals were with the Monterrey Rayado organization.
The Special Reserve Team for the Chivas de Guadalajara will be making its first visit to Laredo this year. Last season, the Chivas organization sent their 2nd Division team to play the Heat.
Heat Owner and CEO, Shashi Vaswani, mentioned, “It gives me a great amount of pleasure to be able to bring these two quality soccer organizations from Mexico to Laredo to showcase their talents against our Laredo Heat.” Vaswani added, “Our players enjoy the chance to play against these teams due to the level of soccer talent each has.” Vaswani concluded, “Both games versus these teams will serve us well during the PDL season and hopefully the pressure from these games will give us an edge come playoff time.”
