PDL Final Master Roster Cut Set for Next Week

Tuesday, June 27, 2006 (Laredo, TX):

By Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 4:00 PM, Coach Israel Collazo and his staff have to decide what players are the ones they feel give the Heat the best chance to finish with the best record in the Mid-South Division and lead the team into the Premier Development League (PDL) Playoffs.

Per league rules, all 59 PDL teams must freeze their Master Rosters by the above mentioned deadline with a total of 26 total players registered. Of those 26, three players must be U-19 players and the team can only carry seven foreign players plus only eight players aged 23 and over.

For the Heat, the freeze on the Master Roster comes as a tough duty for the coaching staff since the team currently rotates their weekly Master Schedule between nine players that are 23 and Over. It will be one of these nine players that Coach Collazo and his staff will have to cut from the team in order to be in compliance for the remainder of the season.

With one week of practice left and one game this coming Saturday versus the Austin Lightning at the Student Activity Center at 8:00 PM, these nine players have to give it their all in order to showcase their talents and soccer attributes to the coaching staff and hope they are not the player cut.

The nine players currently on the Heat Master Roster that are 23 years of age and Over include Ernesto Contreras, Daniel Galvan, Nicho Infante, Chuy Sanchez, Jake Downs, Carlos Ordaz, Steve Su, Hector Vallejo and Juan de Dios Ibarra.

Heat Owner and Club CEO, Shashi Vaswani, said, "These players are all professionals when it comes to soccer and they realize why rules exist." Vaswani concluded, "At the end of the day, I am confident in my head coach and his staff to make the right decisions. "

In other team news, the Heat would like to remind everyone in the community that helped the club during its sticker drive earlier this month for Make-A-Wish, that wish child Ashley Macias will be getting her wish of visiting Disney World and Mickey Mouse this coming weekend as she and her family will be leaving this coming Saturday, July 1st for a fun filled week in Orlando.
