Laredo vs. El Paso for 1st Place in Mid-South Division



The Laredo Heat Soccer Club returns to action this week to host the 2004 Mid-South Division Champion El Paso Patriots on Saturday, May 21st at 8:00PM at the Student Activity Complex located on Highway 359 and Loop 20.

The Heat currently stands tied for 1st place with the El Paso Patriots. Both teams have accumulated 9 points with victories over their 1st three Mid-South Division opponents in the 2005 Premier Development League Season. The Heat beat the Austin Lightning in Austin on Saturday, May 14th by a score of 2 to 0. The Heat goals were scored by Chuy Sanchez and Nicho Infante. Both goals were assisted by Hector "Gota" Vallejo.

"This is an exciting time for the organization", said Heat owner Shashi Vaswani. Vaswani added, "Coach Jepsen and the players have worked hard to put themselves in this position and hopefully the outcome will be reflective of that focus and dedication".

Heat General Manager and Chief Operating Officer J.J. Vela noted, "The El Paso Patriots average over 2,000 fans per home game and every year are among the league leaders in attendance and that is where we want be." Vela added, "I would love to see as many fans in the stands for this game and of course, all future Heat games, and show El Paso this border city can be boisterous and support its local soccer team as well as they do".

The Laredo Heat Soccer Club reminds all soccer and sports fans that tickets for the game can be purchased at the gate for as low as $6.00 for General Admission and that all children 12 and under who wear red and come with an adult can enter for free for this and all future Heat games.
