Critical Two Games versus the DFW Tornados
The Laredo Heat Soccer Club (6-3-0 / 18 points), second place in the Mid-South Division of the PDL's Southern Conference, takes on division rival the DFW Tornados (2-3-1 / 7 points) in two critical matches this weekend at the Student Activity Center located at Hwy. 359 and Loop 20. Both matches, scheduled for Friday June 10th and Saturday, June 11th, are set to begin at 8:00PM.
The DFW Tornados were the second place team last year in the Mid-South Division and are always a very dangerous team due to their quickness off the ball. This year, they have been plagued with injuries and after a slow start to begin the season, they have picked up steam over the last three games and have gone 2-0-1.
Laredo Heat Head Coach E.J. Jepsen is very familiar with the Tornados as he was an Assistant Coach with them last year. Additionally, the Heat recently signed former DFW Tornado Midfielder Dwayne Bergeron who was released by the Tornados two weeks ago. The familiarity on the field between these two teams, not to mention the fact that the Heat defeated the Tornados by a score of 1- 0 in the closing minutes in their first encounter in Dallas just a few weeks ago, should add a little spice to both matches this weekend.
The Heat in turn can take dramatic steps on their season goal of making the playoffs with two victories (6 points) over the Tornados.
Ticket prices for the games this weekend are $6.00 for adults and children 12 years of age and under can get in free if they are wearing a red shirt. Additionally, this weekend, it's a two for one special for all adults. The purchase of a ticket to Friday's match, will allow the ticket holder to go into Saturday's game for free.
The Laredo Heat will be practicing this evening at United Day School from 7:00PM until dusk. The Heat coaches, players and administration will also be at Fuego Grill and Chill from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM for a Laredo Chamber of Commerce mixer.
