Heat/Make a Wish Foundation Help Grant a Wish

The Laredo Heat Soccer Club invites you to once again be a part of the magic as they make dreams come true for an area wish child. The Laredo Heat is pleased to continue its tradition of partnering with the Make- a- Wish Foundation to grant a wish to a child within the immediate region. This year we have the privilege of granting a wish to 16 year- old Jesus Mireles. Jesus’ one wish is to have a grand shopping spree for both clothing and electronics.

While we traditionally host a press conference for Heat fans, family, friends, and media to meet the child, this year we are under special circumstances and have chosen not to do so in the best interest of the child.

However, we will still be hosting our annual sticker drive to support this cause on Saturday June 9, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The entire Laredo Heat organization will be out at the intersection of McPherson and Del Mar asking motorists permission to place a sticker on their vehicles. A grand total of 5,000 Heat stickers will represent the fulfillment of the wish.

NO DONATIONS NEED TO BE MADE. NO SELL-OUT GAME IS NECESSARY. WE ARE SIMPLY ASKING THAT YOU PLACE A HEAT STICKER ON YOUR VEHICLE AND HELP SPREAD THE WORD!!

CEO& President of the Make-A Wish Foundation of Central & South Texas, Tammy Shaklee, also encourages everyone to take part and states that “The Laredo community does good work in granting the community’s most seriously ill children a special moment of joy when it is most needed; With the Laredo Heat’s leadership, everyone can get involved and make a wish come true”. Upon completion of the sticker drive we will present Jesus with his wish during the half-time presentation of our Saturday June 9, 2007, game beginning at 8:00 p.m at the Student Activity Complex located on Highway 359 & Loop 20.
