Match Preview: Heat Hosting Club America USA in Friendly Exhibition

In Laredo, the Mexican Soccer Federation is well known and Mexican soccer teams are very popular in South Texas.
The most popular team in Mexico and one of the most recognized soccer clubs in the Americas are the “Aguilas del Club America” from Mexico City.
On Wednesday, June 6, 2007, Club America USA, the first official and only affiliated soccer academy in the United States that is associated with the “Aguilas” from Mexico City will be visiting the Gateway City for a Friendly Exhibition Match versus the Laredo Heat Soccer Club. Kick-off is scheduled at 8:00 PM at the Student Activity Complex located at the corner of Highway 359 and Loop 20.
Established in October 2006 in Houston, Texas, Club America USA hopes to bring the magic of Mexican soccer to the United States by showcasing teams that follow the same policy and procedures of the mother club in Mexico City. The U-23 Team visiting Laredo tomorrow will be playing in the academy’s first official game and consist of players selected by Club America USA officials as potential players to be looked at by the America coaching and administrative directors. The Club America USA team will consist mostly of amateur and young talent from the United States scouted by the academy that they feel can excel in an organized soccer environment and show promise not only for Club America USA but have the potential to maybe play in Mexico one day.
The Laredo Heat Soccer Club invites all of Laredo and Nuevo Laredo soccer fans to this event and asks that all fans come early and be loud during the game in order to showcase the Gateway City as a town that knows its soccer. As a reminder, admission to the game will still be $6.00 and all kids 12 and under will enter free.
