Double Tilt: Heat Host Austin Lightning on Friday and Saturday

Thursday, July 12, 2007 (Laredo, TX):

The Laredo Heat (6 – 2 – 3, 11 GP / 21 Points) finally returns to the Gateway City to play two games this weekend versus the Austin Lightning (3 – 7 – 1, 11 GP / 10 Points) at the Student Activity Complex, located at the corner of Highway 359 and Loop 20. Both games, on Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th, are slated to begin at 8:00 PM.

The Heat last played a game in Laredo over 30 days ago, on Saturday, June 9th to be exact, versus the New Orleans Shell Shockers and during the past month, have traveled to Austin, El Paso and to the Dallas / Fort Worth area.

During this hiatus from Laredo, the Heat have gone from being the lone rangers in 1st Place in the Mid-South Division Standings to 3rd and now tied for 1st again with the expansion Mississippi Brilla (6 – 5 – 3, 14 GP / 21 Points).

Two wins this weekend at home versus the Capital City team and the Heat will pretty much lock up a playoff birth for the third time in as many years that the club has been in existence.

“Coach Collazo and the rest of the team knows what needs to be done and wants to take care of business this weekend at home against the Lightning and not worry about having to clinch a playoff berth on the road next week in Baton Rouge, Louisiana or Jackson, Mississippi” said Heat General Manager, J.J. Vela.

Vela added, “Austin has always been a tough draw for us and regardless of their outcome last week in New Orleans, where they lost 8 – 1 to the Shell Shockers, the Lightning will be ready to play Laredo”.

Vela concluded, “Collazo and his staff will have the team ready to play against Austin and on behalf of the entire Laredo Heat organization, I invite not only Laredo soccer fans, but all sports fans to come out to the SAC to see some exciting soccer and more importantly, show your support to the club during their two last home regular season games and enjoy some serious family fun”.

As a reminder, admission to all Heat games is only $6.00 for adults and all children 12 and under get in free courtesy of the Heat sponsors.
