Heat blanks Lightning

AUSTIN — The Laredo Heat won in a very dominant way against the Austin Lightning Friday night and continues its run toward the Premier Development League playoffs. The Heat scored 3 goals while Ryan Shaughnessy recorded his second shutout of the season for a 3-0 win.

The first goal came early in the first half on a free kick by Juan de Dios Ibarra.

In the second half local high school player Arnold Presas of United scored in the 60th minute on an assist from Ibarra putting the Heat up 2-0. Local product David Cantu nailed the Heat’s victory in the 79th minute on an assist by Ryan Harrison.

The Heat faces Austin again tonight at 7:30 here in the state capital.This keeps the Heat undefeated at 8-0 in PDL play with 24 points
