April 30, 2005 Marks First PDL Game
The Laredo Heat Soccer Club is making dreams come true, and Laredo can too! The Laredo Heat Soccer Club is proudly working closely with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help an area child receive their wish. Laredo-area wish child Sarena, age 6, diagnosed with a brain tumor, told Make-A-Wish that her one heartfelt wish is to visit Disney World, specifically "spending time with her family, and meeting all of the princesses."
Laredo Heat is adopting Sarena's wish through the Adopt-A-Wish program, but is asking for Laredo's help at no cost. In order to reach their goal of the $5,000.00 needed to sponsor a child, the entire Laredo Heat team, staff, administration, Fuego, dance team, and friends will be out in the city on April 30 asking Laredoans to support their goal by placing a Laredo Heat sticker on their vehicle. For each Laredo Heat sticker that gets placed on a vehicle, a generous donor will donate one dollar to the Make-a-Wish organization. This means that the no one has to make a donation, all they have to do is put a Laredo Heat sticker on their car!!
Laredo Heat will distribute their official stickers at 6 of their sponsor locations from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, April 30, 2005.
The following is a list of locations for the Sticker Drive:
" Laredo National Bank 1311 E. Del Mar (in front of Starbucks)
" A-1 Autostop, 3310 E. Saunders
" Ramirez Mitzubishi, 1915 South Zapata Hwy.
" Whataburger, 202 W. Del Mar (by KGNS TV)
" Pizza Hut, 4821 San Bernado
" La Quinta Inn & Suites, 7220 Bob Bullock Loop
Laredo Heat will present wish child Sarena with her Disney World departure package during the half-time presentation of their Saturday, April 30, 2005 game beginning at 8:05 p.m. at the Student Activities Center (SAC), HWY 359 and Loop 20, Laredo, Texas.
*We are asking that all media be generous enough to announce this as many times possible so that they too can make Sarena's wish come true!!
In addition, Laredo Heat has already sold 1,000 Laredo Heat Make- A-Wish wristbands, raising $1,000 for Make-A-Wish. This means that with $1,000 down, the Heat must raise $4,000 to make this happen. Please be apart of the magic and help make this child's wish come true!!!
