Heat Announce First Exhibition Match

Thursday, April 17, 2008 (Laredo, TX):

The TAMIU Soccer Complex will be rocking on Tuesday, April 29th as the Defending 2007 PDL Champions Laredo Heat will open up their 2008 campaign in an International Friendly Match versus Santos Laguna “Primera A”.

Santos Laguna is a member of the Federacion Mexicana de Futbol and the “Primera A” is the division right below of Mexico’s elite First Division.

“This match will be very exciting for both the players and our fans because of the level of soccer that Santos Laguna will bring to Laredo. The Santos Laguna Primera A team is in the process of finishing up their season and we are just getting started with ours so the game should give our coaching staff and players the jump start needed to get the PDL season into full swing”, said Heat Owner Shashi Vaswani.

Vaswani added, “Last season we opened up our season by playing the Rayados Primera A team from Monterrey and the pace of the game got us up to speed really fast. Though we lost that game, the experience we garnered from the match helped us in the long run”.

Vaswani concluded, “I would personally like to invite all soccer and sports fans out to our new playing venue to experience top notch soccer in a stadium dedicated solely to the sport and with amenities that we have never been able to offer before such as beer and wine sales plus action close to the field. The atmosphere should be fun and exciting”.

The match versus Santos Laguna is scheduled to start at 8:00 PM at the TAMIU Soccer Complex located on the Texas A&M International University campus at the corner of Loop 20 and University Blvd.

Admission for this Exhibition Match will be $7.00 for adults and in keeping with its family tradition of affordable entertainment, all children 12 and under that wear red will receive free admission to this game and all Heat regular season league games.
