Laredo Heat Announce Home Opener: International Friendly Game Versus Monterrey Rayados (Primera A)

Monday, April 2, 2007 (Laredo, TX):

The Laredo Heat Soccer Club will showcase their 2007 team on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at the Student Activity Complex located at the corner of Highway 359 and Loop 20 at 8:00 PM in an International Friendly Match versus the “Primera A” Monterrey Rayados.

Heat owner and CEO, Shashi Vaswani, said, “As an organization, we are excited about hosting the Rayados organization and looking forward to seeing how our team will do versus top notch competition”. Vaswani added, “This match will be toughest opening game for our organization since “Primera A” is just a step down from Mexico’s top Professional Division. This will be an initiation by fire for the club”. Vaswani concluded, “Since 2004, we have hosted several Mexican Soccer Federation (FMF) teams and all have left Laredo happy about playing in the Gateway City. The Rayados will be the third organization from the FMF that we will host with the other two being the Tigres, also from Monterrey, and the Chivas from Guadalajara. I hope that local soccer fans have enjoyed the previous visits by FMF teams and recall the electric atmosphere last summer during the USL PDL Championship and bring that energy to this opening game.”

Admission to this International Friendly Match and all Laredo Heat home games in 2007 will be $6.00 for General Admission tickets and once again this year, and keeping up with the teams philosophy of offering affordable family entertainment, the Heat will allow all children 12 years of age and under that wear a red shirt free entry into all the games. The Heat continues with their pre-season conditioning schedule at United Day School this week and starting next week, they will begin complete soccer practices at the same practice facility. All Heat practices are open to the public and start at 6:30 PM and end at dusk.
