Laredo Heat Visit Boys & Girls Clubs

Clinic Involved Soccer Skills & Financial Literacy

Laredo, TX (Thursday, August 7, 2014): Even though the 2014 Premier Development League Season concluded just over a week ago for the Laredo Heat Soccer Club, members of the coaching staff and several local players still took time to visited three Boys & Girls Clubs of Laredo this past week.

The club partnered together with long time sponsor International Bank of Commerce (IBC) – Laredo to provide financial literacy lessons and a soccer clinic to children at the participating Boys & Girls Clubs.

IBC and the Laredo Heat visited the Benavides Boys & Girls Club on Tuesday, August 5th, the Northwest Boys & Girls Club on Wednesday, August 6th and today, they concluded their visits at the Lamar Bruni Vergara Boys & Girls Club.

“We had a blast visiting all three clubs and meeting all the great kids at the different locations”, said Heat Midfielder Greg Mulamba.

“It was a wonderful experience all around for everyone involved because of the way the program was set up to include sports and real life issues”

Mulamba concluded, “At the end of the day, I personally believe that every child that we came into contact with not only learned a little about soccer but they also learned some real life lessons that will help them in some way with their future”.

IBC has been a long-time supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs and they strongly believe that the children of Laredo benefit from the clubs’ programs and because of their partnership with the Laredo Heat Soccer Club, they felt they could use sportsmanship as a tool to teach the children discipline, dedication and commitment.
