Laredo Heat SC Players Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

Out in the community

Saturday, October 6, 2012 (Laredo, TX): This past weekend, several Laredo Heat SC players joined Houston based sporting goods retailer Academy Sports and Outdoors at their Laredo San Bernardo location to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The players not only showcased their talent but also conducted a soccer clinic for kids from eight to 13 years old. Several of clinic participants took advise from players to help them improve their game while the majority were introduced to the game of soccer by the Heat players, who also double up as youth coaches for the Heat Academy teams.

At the end of the event, Academy Sports and Outdoors donated one soccer ball to all the participants that signed up and then with the help of the Laredo Heat SC player Juan de Dios Ibarra, they donated the portable goals used at the event in the form of raffle to three lucky participants.

Overall the event was successful with over 50 participants and more importantly, several youngsters who had never played soccer got interested in the sport.
