Week Filled With Events to Initiate 2011 Regular Season, Including Former Guinness World Record Holder

LAREDO, Texas (Saturday, April 30, 2011): It has been a long time coming but the Laredo Heat Soccer Club is set to start their 2011 Premier Development League (PDL) Regular Season. After two months of training and five pre-season games, including one just last week versus the Major League Soccer 2010 Western Division Champions FC Dallas Reserve Squad in Frisco, Texas, the Heat will be hosting the expansion Rio Grande Valley Grandes on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Texas A&M International Soccer Complex. The excitement of a new season of Heat soccer will kick-off at 8:00 PM.

The Heat have an exciting and fun filled week set up for the opening match at home with Former Guinness World Record Holder Beto Dominator not only performing his amazing skills during the halftime of the Heat and Grandes match but he will also be visiting several sponsor locations and Laredo schools to promote the match starting on Tuesday.

The highlight of Beto Dominator’s visit will happen on Wednesday evening, May 4th at Hal’s Landing (located next to the Laredo Energy Arena). From 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Beto will be showcasing his ball domination and taking on challengers from Laredo for fantastic prizes including a brand new 120G Sony Playstation 3. Interested individuals wanting to take on Beto must purchase two general admission tickets to Friday’s game in order to compete for the prizes. The event at Hal’s Landing is being sponsored by the Laredo Heat Soccer Club and long time supporter L&F Distributors.

“I know the coaching staff and players are prepared to get their season going but I want our fans to start getting fired up as well to bring in 2011 in style for them since we are well aware that the more fans we have in the stands, the more adrenaline that flows and the better product we will have on the field. At the end of the day, we need the fan support”, said Heat Owner and President Shashi Vaswani.

“Having Beto Dominator for the days leading up to our match versus the Grandes should get fans in the soccer mood and then after that, our players will showcase their talents versus a quality opponent.”

Vaswani concluded, “The students and people that get the opportunity to see Beto this week perform will be thrilled and astonished by what one person can do with a soccer ball and I certainly hope that he can reach as many people as possible. I personally invite everyone to the open event at Hal’s to check him out”.
