2011 Heat Invitational Tryouts Set for This Weekend

LAREDO, Texas (Friday, March 11, 2011): As the Laredo Heat Soccer Club prepares for the start of its 8th Season in the United Soccer Leagues (USL) Premier Development League (PDL), an important step in that process gets started this weekend.

The 2011 Heat Invitational Tryouts begin this Saturday, March 12th at 9:00 AM with a three hour opening session and then later that same day, the second session is set for 5:00 PM. On Sunday, March 13th, only one session will be held, which will actually be set up as complete games to see the participants in match situations.

All three tryouts sessions will be held at the Texas A&M International University Soccer Complex.

“We have already been in pre-season mode now for about two weeks with local players and players that were on the team last season”, commented Heat Owner and President Shashi Vaswani.

“This weekend, Coach Collazo and his staff will be looking for individuals to complement the players that we have already getting in shape for the upcoming season”, added Vaswani.

“For the past several seasons, we have made our tryouts invitational meaning that we select players to attend from many potential candidates. This year, we have players coming in from Mexico, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi, the UK and of course from across Texas”.

Vaswani concluded, “Personally, due to the coaching and scouting recommendations of the players that are attending the tryouts this weekend, I am looking forward to hopefully provide our coaching staff the players that they need to make another run at the PDL Championship. As we all know, early preparation leads to future success, both on and off the field”.

The game on Sunday, March 13th at 9:00 AM is open to the public and it will be played between the best of the tryout talent and members of the Laredo Heat Soccer Club and members of our Under 19 Youth Academy that do not have any high school obligations this Spring.
