MLS Houston Dynamo to host PDL Laredo Heat in Corpus Christi - Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Tuesday, March 30, 2010 (Laredo, TX):

 

The two-time Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup Champion Houston Dynamo and 2007 United Soccer Leagues (USL) Premier Development League (PDL) Champion Laredo Heat (USL PDL Finalist in 2006 and 2008) are headed to Corpus Christi, Texas for the Ryan Sanders South Texas Shootout set to be played on Thursday, June 10, 2010. Kick-off is set for 7:00 P.M. at What-A-Burger Field, home of the Corpus Christi Hooks, the AA Affiliate of the Houston Astros.

 

A press conference to announce the match was held at noon on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at home plate of What-A-Burger Field. Attending the press conference were Oliver Luck, President and General Manager of the Dynamo, Reid Ryan, Founder and CEO of Ryan-Sanders Baseball and J.J. Vela, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of A Vaswani Soccer Venture, LLC, parent company of the Laredo Heat Soccer Club.

 

Said Luck, “We are excited to bring the game of soccer to the City of Corpus Christi. As an organization, we always look for opportunities that enable us to grow the sport and this game against the Laredo Heat is a great avenue by which to showcase the quality of our team to fans, not only in this city but also in the South Texas region. We look forward to an exciting match against a team which in the past has proven to be a good opponent”.

 

Vela added, “On behalf of the entire Laredo Heat organization, we want to thank both Ryan-Sanders Baseball and the Houston Dynamo for this opportunity, this facility is beautiful and it will be a great venue for futbol”.

 

“The true winners of this event will be the soccer and sports fans of Corpus Christi and South Texas, not to mention the Coastal Bend Youth Soccer Association, led by Mr. Pat Kasperitis, one of the largest youth soccer associations in the South Texas Youth Soccer Association system. All of them will be getting a quality soccer match right in their backyard”.

 

Vela concluded, “Outside from the excitement of this match for all involved, this match will also be a great event for our Premier Development League membership and our PDL Southern Conference Mid-South Division rivals because fans will get to see some of the finest young soccer talent in the country. Just two months ago in the Major League Soccer Draft in Philadelphia, 48 players with PDL experience were drafted in the four round, 64 player event”.

 

Members of the PDL’s Mid-South Division are the DFW Tornados, the El Paso Patriots, the Houston Leones, the Rio Grande Valley Bravos, the West Texas United Sockers (Midland) and the Laredo Heat Soccer Club.

 

Tickets for the Dynamo / Heat match will go on sale on Wednesday, March 31st for Hooks Season Ticket Holders, with sales to the general public beginning on Tuesday, April 6th. Tickets prices will range from $10 for General Admission to $16 and $18 for Reserved Seating.
