Laredo Heat Gives Back
Tuesday, May 2, 2006 (Laredo, TX):
The Laredo Heat recently took time to visit the children at Sacred Heart Children's Home before their upcoming season. Heat players and representatives, Jacob Downs, Carlos Ordaz, Amanda Cadena and Lisa Rodriguez were all present for this event.
While at Sacred Heart, Heat members joined in on the fun for the boys versus girls soccer game. Children of all ages enjoyed the day outside while competing for fun prizes. This was the first of many visits for the Heat to Sacred Heart, as they plan to work closely with the children all year long.
Additionally, the Heat invited Sacred Heart to be their guest of honor for the International friendly match against Tigres de Monterrey Reserva on April 20, 2006. During the half-time of this game local media personalities participated in the Kicks for Kids event as they attempted to score goals against Fuego the mascot. For each goal that was scored, $50.00 was donated to the Sacred Heart Children's Home. All in all, a grand total of $250.00 was raised for the children. The presentation honors were conducted by team captain Jacob Downs and Carlos Ordaz as they were specially requested by the children.
